Orenburg State University is the largest institute of higher education in the Orenburg region. It is a leading training, research and cultural center carrying out the sequence of multi-level educational services at all levels.

To provide the instruction the university recruits highly skilled professionals. More than 160 staff members have Doctor of Science and more than 800 Candidate of Science degrees.

The university students’ body amounts to more than 43,000 people. When giving professional training the university has a strong focus on the extensive usage of scientific research outcomes and information technologies. Students have at their disposal an Internet Center with high speed transmission links, modern laboratories and a scientific library that serves more than 27,000 visitors.

One of the university’s priorities is to intensify its innovation activities. University scientists reduce their inventions into practice at local enterprises. Orenburg leading companies and organizations act as work placements for the university students.

The university structure includes 3 scientific and development institutes, scientific and technology center “OSU Technopark”, scientific laboratories and centers that conduct researches in 33 disciplines that are relevant to the key areas in science and engineering development. The university has its own botanic garden, vivarium and meteorological station.

There are five successfully operating Doctoral Dissertation Councils at the university.

Friendship between OSU and international partners in Germany, Denmark, USA, France, Malta, Czech Republic and Japan as well as in Kazakhstan and other CIS members assists future specialists to adapt to the changes of the globalizing world.

The university creates a special educational environment thanks to keeping its own traditions, using academic classes potential, developing and modernizing facilities for students’ social, cultural and sport activities.

The university’s social infrastructure with its Students Center Palace of Culture “Russia”, Sports Center “Penguin” with a swimming pool, Sports and Health-Improving Gym, Students’ Polyclinic, Medical Prophylactics Center, Accommodation and Food Services facilities aims to ensure both students and staff have comfortable living and working on campus.
