On the 13th of March students of Faculty of Applied Biotechnology and Engineering at the OSU told about traditions of Maslenitsa festival in different countries and treated guests with festival dishes.

Not only Russians accompany winter noisy and merry. Every year the whole Christian world feasts before Lent. Every nation has its traditions, but they all have much common with Russian. Students of faculty of Applied Biotechnology and Engineering studied these traditions and prepared dishes which usually adorn a festive table in families of different countries. It is tortilla in Mexico, lafse in Denmark, sweet pilaf in Armenia. In Russia the main attribute of the Maslenitsa are as we know pancakes — a symbol of the sun, but there are a lot of versions in their preparation. There such kinds of pancakes as wheaten, buckwheat and with different fillings… A lot of dishes were presented on the festive table.

In honour of the Maslenitsa students of faculty of Applied Biotechnology and Engineering treated the guests with pancakes. It was possible to try them in the hall of the building № 3 of the OSU. A presentation of the Maslenitsa’s customs was also conducted there.
