Monument to "Lomonosov from Orenburg" Is Opened!

On the 2^nd of September unveiling of the monument to P.I. Rychkov was presented in the square of the 3^rd OSU academic building.

The opening of bronze sculpture in OSU was dated for the 270^th anniversary of Orenburg. The official guests, OSU students and lecturers had come into the yard in front of the 3^rd academic building at 10 o’clock.

The rector of Orenburg State University Vladimir Kovalevskiy noted in his speech that monument location was selected properly, because OSU is the largest University in the region:

— Petr Ivanovich Rychkov developed and studied Orenburg region for more than 40 years, — Vladimir Petrovitch recalled, — therefore this monument is in the right place, because Orenburg State University is educational, scientific and cultural center.

He hoped that image of Rychkov who spend his life serving the country will inspire students to make new advances in research. P.I. Rychkov is called Lomonosov from Orenburg for his extensive scientific activities. He approved himself well as excellent researcher in geography, history, botany, geology and economics. The opening ceremony finished with flower-laying to the new monument.
