Revival of Mathematical Traditions

The festive opening of “Socrates” mathematical school on the base of Orenburg school № 40 took place on the 4^th of April. Among the guests was OSU Rector Vladimir Kovalevskiy, OSU Vice-Rector for Teaching Tatyana Petukhova and other representatives of Orenburg State University.

— Our school is specializing in Mathematics, — Head of school № 40 Roza Kuznetsova told. — But unfortunately, mathematical traditions were lost over time. We addressed to Orenburg State University to realize the project of mathematical school and signed cooperation agreement.

The associate professor of OSU Computer Security and Mathematical Support Department — Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics Tatyana Otryvankina became the teacher of this school. The lessons will be organized several times per month and distance learning will be in the rest of time. The main education target is the mathematical abilities development of pupils and preparing for academic competitions.

At the end of the day young mathematicians received training certificates from Vladimir Kovalevskiy; they gave a solemn oath to study Mathematics — the queen of all sciences honestly.
