OSU Japanese Information Center celebrated New Year. The students learning Japanese language and participants of Japanese culture’s club have visited this event for the seventh time.

Japanese lecturer Kitamura Megumi told about ceremonies and rituals during the "New-Year Traditions of Japan" presentation. She also shared the New-Year’s story of her own family. Later on fascinating quiz the students have learned many new interesting facts about the Land of the Rising Sun. The participants were also interested in the report about "Seven Gods of Luck" presented by Galina Grifanovaš— student of Japanese language’s courses.

The stories were interspersed with informative competitions (for example, competition in composing the words from hieroglyphs), magnetic Japanese songs performed by the students.

According to Japanese New-Year’s traditions the participants delved into the atmosphere of fairy prophesy receiving letters with predictions for the future year.

The highlight of this event was big competition of New-Year’s Japanese adornmentsš— Kadomatsu, as well as Nengajo illustrations and postcards, where anyone could participate.
