At the meeting with OSU Rector Vladimir Kovalevskiy, College Director Oohira Yasuyesi, Head of International Exchanges Center Nishimura Yoshitsugu and Coordinator of International Cooperation Sogawa Seigni noticed frosty weather unusual for them and indistinctive for their native town in this season. Vladimir made an excursion in the history of cooperation between OSU and Japanese universities.

— We are cooperating with Hiroshima University already for 8 years, — Rector says. — In 2006 we have signed cooperation agreement with President Toshimasa Asahara. The exchange of students, postgraduates and lecturers is realized according to this agreement. Mister Asahara made a present of cherry tree seedlings to OSU which were planted out in OSU Botanic Garden in 2012 and immediately began to blossom.

About 300 guests from the Land of the Rising Sun have visited Orenburg State University from 2004. The fact that Ambassadors of Japan in Russia have visited OSU twice — in 2006 and 2007, shows relationships’ stability between Orenburg and Japan. Thanks to Embassy of Japan in Russia a lecturer from the Land of the Rising Sun has been worked in OSU for 7 years.

Vladimir Kovalevskiy also emphasized that festival of Japanese Movies is conducted in Orenburg in frames of OSU Days of Japan Event every year. In 2012 a unique performance took place in the cultural life of Orenburg city. A troop of Japanese theatre “Botchan” presented play “Vow on the coin” in Orenburg State Regional Drama Theatre named after Maksim Gorkiy on the initiative of Orenburg State University. This performance images love of Russian captive and Japanese nurse in the times of Russian-Japanese War.

Whereas Ookhira Yasuyesi told that Anabuki College is private educational institution and this year it celebrates the 30th anniversary. This college has branches in such cities as Hiroshima, Fukuyama and Tokushima. Anabuki College cooperates with the leading manufacturing companies. Education is conducted in many areas: business, design, computer graphics, medical and veterinary science, hairdressing, but the most popular is software engineering.

They also have training department of Japanese language for foreign students, generally from Asian countries where activation of economical development is now observed (Nepal, Vietnam).

The meeting’s result was signing of cooperation agreement between Orenburg State University and Anabuki College. Then Japanese delegation has visited Research Library and museums of OSU and held a presentation of Anabuki College for OSU students. Visiting of dormitories and city’s sightseeing were also planned.
