New Nature Reserves by OSU Scientists

Research team of OSU Geological and Geographical as well as Architectural and Construction Faculties developed ecological-economic projects for foundation of state nature reserves of regional significance "Guberlin Mountains" and "Karagay-Guberlin Gap".

It will be organized on the territory of Kuvandyk and Gay districts of Orenburg Region. The main features are mica slates (earliest geological rock of the region) and significant number of plants and animals listed in Red Book of Orenburg Area. Three activities directions of future wildlife reserves are noted: environmental-protection, research-educational, tourist and recreational. It is planned to make recreation centers which will become school summer camps for children and bases of university practice later as well as to bring in new tourist trails. Creation of such protected natural areas of Eastern Orenburg will help to keep environmental stability of the region in total.

The projects received the positive conclusion of State Environmental Expertise and were forwarded to Ministry of Environmental Resources, Ecology and Property Relations of Orenburg Region for realization.
