Gabil Mamedov takes silver in the 60kg final at the European Boxing Championships.

Gabil Mamedov, Master degree student of the Institute of Management (OSU) who graduated from Orenburg Children and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve won a silver medal at the European Boxing Championships in the light 60kg category.

The European Boxing Championship lasted more than a week and ended in Kharkiv. Ukraine hosted about 250participants from 40countries. OSU student Gabil Mamedov, Russian champion 2016, successfully started the tournaument— he beat Mikhail Kvasyuk (Moldova). The boxer was on a rolland when beating Frederik Jensen (Denmark) in the 1/8finals. Gabil left no chance to Karen Tonakanian (Armenia) in the quarterfinals, and defeated Pavlo Ishchenko, a participant of the London Olympics (Israel), in the semifinals.

The bout was intense. Mamedov knocked down his opponent, Iurii Shestak (Ukraine), but that was not enough to declare him the winner and Iurii Shestak took gold with 4-1win.
