Famous Boxer and OSU Postgraduate Gabil Mamedov prepares for the Russian Championship

He goes for a two-week sports camp as a member of the national team of Russia to Lobnya town in the Moscow region.

The boxer noted that he was doing his standard exercises when being at home: “I had the same training loads as in a camp. When you’ve been training for all your life, you get used to trainings in a camp, even after a long time-off. So, that’s not difficult. I’m training as usual."

Gabil also told us about the Olympic qualifying tournament: “It’s not very clear right now how the Olympic qualification will be arranged. Perhaps, I may have to go through the qualification procedure from the very beginning”.

Gabil won Russian Championship in 2019. The last time Gabil had been in a ring was during the cancelled Olympic qualifying tournament. He defeated Georgian Lasha Gurili in 1/16 final. The boxer is being trained by highly-experienced coach Dmitriy Skopintsev.
