A delegation of Orenburg region that consisted of OSU Prorector for Academic Affairs Svetlana Pankova and Director of Japanese Information Center Lyudmila Dokashenko has returned from Japan.

The idea of multilateral cooperation between Ehime Prefecture and Orenburg region has appeared during the 13th Festival “Day of Japan at OSU”. In October of the last year the Japanese delegation has visited Orenburg by invitation of Governor Yuriy Berg. They have met with Minister for Culture and Foreign Relations of Orenburg region Evgeniy Shevchenko, visited Orenburg State University where they have presented their region in the frame of the festival. The main visit’s result was memorandum signing between Ehime University and OSU that was coordinated during the meeting of the rectors Yuichi Okhasi and Zhanna Ermakova in Matsuyama city in April 2016. And during this visit of Orenburg delegation to Japan a specific plan of two universities’ cooperation was outlined.

— We have discussed questions of academic mobility’s development with Yuichi Okhasi, — OSU Prorector for Academic Affairs Svetlana Pankova said. — Particularly, in September of this year we are waiting for Japanese students of natural and humanitarian sciences programs in OSU Summer School. Orenburg State University’s students will have an opportunity to take short-time internships in the field of economics, service and tourism in Japan. Our partners have also offered to organize an internship for students who are studying Japanese language and culture.

During this visit OSU representatives have proposed to create a center for Russian language and culture on the base of Ehime University. This offer was unexpected for Japanese partners, but they have expressed their readiness to implement it.

During the visit questions of industrial tourism (tours technologies, studying of products’ stock), research activity of enterprises and their cooperation with educational institution, prospects of joint studying of Cossacks from Orenburg province burial places (that were captured during the Russian-Japanese War 1904–1905) in Matsuyama were under discussion.
