Internship in the Land of the Rising Sun

An Orenburg State University undergraduate, a student of the courses of the Japan Information Center, completed her internship in Japan.

OSU Japan Information Center students annually take part in the programs of the Japan-Russia Center for Youth Exchanges (Tokyo, Japan). This year, Ekaterina Karpova, a student from the Faculty of Finances and Economics, was granted this opportunity. During her stay in the Land of the Rising Sun, she visited the largest cities — Yamaguchi, Tokyo and Nagato.

The undergraduate participated in the debates with local students on the topic “Japanese Traditional Culture: to keep or to reform?” at Yamaguchi Prefectural University. The participants got a chance to express their opinions and thus contributed not only to obtaining new information, but also to improving their communicative skills.

At the next destination point — the city of Nagato — young people laid flowers on the graves of Japanese and Russian soldiers fallen in the Russo-Japanese War, and visited Motonosumi Inari Shinto Shrine.

The last city she visited was the capital of the island state of Tokyo. The OSU student participated in the discussion on the topic “The interactions of Russian and Japanese economies” with local students at Sophia University (“University of Higher Wisdom”) (Tokyo).
